"Something my son couldn’t do before ABA was to shower and dry himself independently. This skill required a detailed Task Analysis (TA)—a step-by-step breakdown of the activity into smaller, teachable components. With time, practice, and consistent support, he mastered each step. This not only gave him greater independence, but also supported his dignity and privacy. It has taken him considerable time to learn this, but consistency and patience have paid off.
We can't time certain skills on behalf of the people behind it. They will set their pace of learning. Within a task analysis, we can teach steps separately and this tends to result in quicker progress, given how broken down teaching chunks are.
This is just one of many skills he’s learned over the years. ABA helped him communicate his needs, gain independence with toileting, engage in leisure and group activities, and develop academic skills—just to name a few.
At Blossom ABA Limited, we closely monitor every learner’s programme. Periodic follow-up assessments and annual reviews allow us to reflect on their journey and celebrate progress—both small and significant.
We never take for granted the dedication our learners show in building new skills. Through systematic teaching, consistent data collection, and daily observation, we ensure that teaching is paced appropriately and remains meaningful.
We also actively seek feedback from learners, families, and schools. Social validity matters—progress isn’t just about data on a graph, it’s also about how our support feels in real life."
